Who am I?
My name is Josh, and I am a Mormon.
Among many other things, I believe in the importance of family, and in
salvation through Jesus Christ. I believe that the Holy Scriptures
allow us to become more like God as we learn of Him and strive to
follow His commandments and emulate His example.
What is the Gospel of Nispio?
Nonesense.
It means absolutely nothing. "Nispio" is a screen name that I use for
myself at various sites around the internet. When I had to choose a
name for the blog, all of the obvious ones were taken "gospelstudy,"
"dailygospelstudy," "dailystudy," "studydaily," ...you get the picture.
Finally, in frustration I chose a name that I felt fairly confident
would be available. Thus "The Gospel of Nispio" was born. In no way do I
mean to imply that my words should be taken as scripture. In fact, any
opinions expressed here belong to the individual who shared them, and
do not necessarily represent The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints or its doctrine.
What is the purpose of this blog?
I believe in personal revelation through the Gift of the Holy Ghost. As
one seeks inspiration in his study of the gospel, the Spirit is able to
teach him things beyond his natural understanding. I decided to start
this blog as a place to record insights I gain as I study the
scriptures. Some of the things are very personal to me, and as such I
will not share them. However, many of the things are just "cool"
observations that connect one passage to another or give new insight into the doctrine.
If
my only objective was to record my own thoughts, then a simple notebook
would suffice. However, I decided to share my thoughts publicly in the
hope that I might engage in gospel conversation with family, friends,
and others "that when all have spoken that all may be edified of all" D&C 88:122.
